FV

Returns the future value of an investment.

Syntax

FV(rate, nper, pmt, [pv], [type])

Arguments

Argument Description Required
rate The interest rate per period. Required
nper The total number of payment periods. Required
pmt The payment made each period. Required
pv The present value, or lump-sum amount that a series of future payments is worth right now. Default is 0. Optional
type When payments are due. 0 = end of period, 1 = beginning of period. Default is 0. Optional

Examples

Future value of annuity

=FV(0.06/12, 10, -200, -500)
Result ⇒ 2571.1753

Savings account growth

=FV(0.12/12, 12, -1000)
Result ⇒ 12682.503

Investment with present value

=FV(A1, A2, A3, A4)
Result ⇒ 3623.5334
