DB

Returns the depreciation of an asset for a specified period using the fixed-declining balance method

Syntax

DB(cost, salvage, life, period, [month])

Arguments

Argument Description Required
cost The initial cost of the asset Required
salvage The value at the end of the depreciation Required
life The number of periods over which the asset is depreciated Required
period The period for which you want to calculate the depreciation Required
month The number of months in the first year. Defaults to 12. Optional

Examples

Depreciation for first year of asset

=DB(2000000, 200000, 10, 1, 6)
Result ⇒ 206000

Depreciation for second year

=DB(2000000, 200000, 10, 2)
Result ⇒ 327128

Depreciation with different life

=DB(1000000, 100000, 5, 1)
Result ⇒ 369000
