Returns the estimated standard deviation based on a sample

Syntax

STDEV(number1, [number_n])

Arguments

Argument	Description	Required
`number1`	The first number or reference corresponding to a sample of a population	Required
`number_n`	Additional numbers or references to include in the sample	Optional

Examples

Standard deviation of test scores

=STDEV(A1:A5)

Result ⇒ 5.4589

Standard deviation of individual values

=STDEV(10, 20, 30, 40, 50)

Result ⇒ 15.8114

Sample standard deviation of measurements

=STDEV(A1:A5)
